The UHA Lady Blazers rebounded from a tough loss to Graves County and handed the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers their first loss of the season. Behind a big night from Lily Hendricks, the Lady Blazers built a first half lead then rolled on out to a 62-49 win Thursday night at Blazer Gym.

The Lady Blazers opened with a solid start from Hendricks and fellow senior Meghan Adams. The duo combined to score ten first quarter points as University Heights took a 12-9 lead after the opening stanza.

In the second quarter, it was Hendricks and Mallory Rager who took over the game. The inside-outside combination combined for 11 of UHA’s 20 points in the quarter, as the Lady Blazers extended their lead to 32-24 at the break.

Coming out of the break, it was UHA’s defense that effectively sealed the win. The Lady Blazers limited Dawson Springs to just 8 points in the quarter, as UHA extended the lead to 46-32 headed into the final eight minutes.

The Lady Panthers pushed to try and make a run in the final quarter. However, Hendricks and Brittyn Northington combined for 12 points in the quarter, and Dawson Springs could never get a serious threat going down the stretch of the game.

Lily Hendricks had a big night for UHA, finishing with 22 points in the game. Meghan Adams and Brittyn Northington each had ten points for the Lady Blazers. Alecia Davis scored 8 points, while Mallory Rager added 7.

For Dawson Springs, freshman Brooklyn Clark paced the attack with 13 points. Fellow freshman Abby Ward was also in double figures with 10. Denisha Randolph finished with six points, while Jalynn Hooper added four.
