The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons have still not allowed anyone to score forty points in a game against them so far this season. Madsionville limited the Webster County Lady Trojans to just 39 points Friday night as the Lady Maroons improved to 4-0 on the season with a 44-39 win.

Early on in the game it looked as it neither team would make it to 40 points on the night. The first quarter came to an end with Madisonville up 11-10. Madisonville’s Courtney Peyton and Webster County’s Marissa Austin put on a strong display in the opening quarter, with each scoring seven points.

The two teams’ defenses really took over in the 2nd quarter. Webster County limited Madisonville to just two field goals in the quarter, as the Lady Trojans took a 16-15 lead at the break.

With just over 3 minutes to go in the game, the Madisonville lead was 42-29, and then things got interesting. The Lady Trojans would limit the Lady Maroons to just two points for the rest of the game. And, on the other end of the court, Marissa Austin did everything she could to lead Webster County to a huge comeback.

Austin scored 15 of her team’s 17 points in the 4th quarter, but it would not quite be enough as the Lady Maroons held on for the five point win.

Camryn LaGrange led Madisonville with 14 points. Courtney Peyton and her twin sister Lindsey each finished the night with 11.

Marissa Austin was effectively the offense for the Lady Trojans, finishing the game with 28 points for Webster County.
