We have all been sitting around the house and had that one fly that want to buzz around your head, and no matter what you do to shoo it off, it just won’t go away. That is what the Fort Campbell Falcons must have felt like during their game against the Christian Fellowship Eagles Saturday afternoon.

While the Falcons led almost the entire game, they could just not get the Eagles put away. Still, the Falcons were able to do enough to get their 5th win of the season, holding off Christian Fellowship 65-62.

CFS led briefly in the early going, the last time coming at 6-4. Fort Campbell then finished the quarter by outscoring the Eagles 13-5 to take a 17-11 lead after the opening eight minutes. The Falcons got a huge quarter from Brock Elsberry, who knocked down three 3-pointers late in the quarter, and Jeremiah Holley, who scored seven in the quarter.

The Eagles would close to within two points at 22-20 midway through the second quarter. Holley and Cameron Pratt led the way as Fort Campbell pushed the lead back out to 27-21 at the break.

The Falcons looked to be on their way to putting the game away early in the third quarter. When Brock Elsberry hit his 5th three of the game, Fort Campbell was up 34-25 and looked to be rolling. The lead would grow to as much as 12, before the quarter ended with the Falcons up 46-38.

Midway through the final quarter, the lead was still at 12 points, at 56-44, but just like that pesky fly, the Eagles would not go away. CFS ripped off a 12-3 spurt to close within 59-56, but that would be as close as the Eagles could get as Fort Campbell held on for the win.

The Falcons are getting quite adept at winning close games. Of their five wins, four have come by five points or less.

Jeremiah Holley led the Falcons with 18 points. Brock Elsberry finished with 16 points, fifteen of those coming on five made 3-pointers. Cameron Pratt added 15 for the Falcons.

CFS was led by Andrew Allen with 19 points. Luke Grigg had 15, while Andrew Allen scored 13 for the Eagles.
