Hopkinsville Takes Down Barren County

The Hopkinsville Tigers rebounded from Friday night’s loss to Christian County by traveling to Glasgow and knocking off Barren County in the Barren Hoops Classic. The Tigers held off a fourth quarter rally by the Trojans to pick up the 63-59 win.

The Tigers took the game to Barren County right out of the gate. Hoptown held the Trojans to just two first quarter field goals as they took a 13-4 lead. The Trojans came roaring back in the second quarter, putting up 27 points to take a 31-30 halftime lead. Barren County used five 3-pointers to make their move to take the lead going into the break.

Barren County opened the second half the same way they started the game, struggling to find the basket. Hopkinsville limited the Trojans to two field goals and just seven total points, as they took the lead back at 45-38 headed into the final quarter.

Despite Barren County having another big offensive quarter in the 4th, the Tigers were able to hold on and pick up the road victory,

Don Victor led the way for the Tigers with 23 points. Jamarcus Burks added 14. Reece Jesse was also in double figures with 10. Arthur McKnight finished with seven.

Barren County was led by Will Bandy with 17 points. Aden Nyekan finished with 13 points for the Troajns.
