Christian County continued their strong start to the wrestling season with a second place finish at the Beech Invitational in Hendersonville, Tenn. Saturday.

The Colonels had two wrestlers claim first place in their weight division. Gage Fowler (120) and Austin Grant-Hall (138) stood atop the medal podium in first place.

JaRi Campbell (106), Cameron Coleman (182), and A.J. Harvey (195) all brought home second place finishes to help the Colonels boost their team score.

Nathan Hale (113) and Ethan Wells (126) both finished in third place, and Mason Kellett (132) and Dion Wells (220) both finished in fourth place.

Christian County finished with 171.5 points, second only to Beech who scored 184 points. There were 17 teams in the field.

“I am very pleased with the effort our wrestlers gave this weekend,” said Colonel Coach Robert Burnham, who added they were without six starters due to illness, college visits, and ACT testing. “Our younger wrestlers stepped up and performed. It was a great opportunity for them and they grabbed it.”

Christian County will send a team Saturday to the Cape Tiger Classic in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Friday and Saturday and a team to the Caldwell County Armstrong Duals.
