Mayfield Flies Past Falcons 72-50 (w/PHOTOS)

The Fort Campbell Falcons fell for the second time in as many outings Saturday afternoon. Mayfield got a huge afternoon from junior DeAngelo Brooks as the Cardinals rolled to a 72-50 win on post.

The Cardinals’ offense was in full flight from the opening tip. Brooks scored 13 points in the opening quarter, as Mayfield took the early 20-17 lead. The Falcons got big starts from both Jeremiah Holley and Cameron Pratt. Holley had 8, while Pratt had seven in the opening quarter.

The Mayfield defense toughened up in the second quarter. The Cardinals held the Falcons to 12 points, while scoring 21 of their own, as the lead grew to 41-29.

Led by their defense, the Cardinals put the game away in the third quarter. Mayfield limited the Falcons to nine points, seven of those from Cameron Pratt, as the Cardinals pushed the lead out to 56-38.

The Cardinals then held the Falcons at bay over the final eight minutes of the game to pick up the 22 point win.

Fort Campbell got another big day from Cameron Pratt. Pratt finished with 20 points. Aaron Hall added 11 points, while Jeremiah Holley finished with 10.

Mayfield was led by DeAngelo Brooks with 25 points. Alonzo Daniel was the only other Cardinal to reach double figures with 12 points.

The loss drops the Falcons to 5-3 on the season.
