Trigg County’s Audie Smith continued her strong start to the archery season with a first place finish Saturday at the Bailey Holt Memorial Archery Tournament at Marshall County Saturday.

The junior shot a 294 out of 300 to win the female division by four shots.  Her score was the highest of anyone, besting North Marshall’s Christian Jones by two shots.  Smith is averaging a 293.5 in her first two events – both wins.

Cole Joyce also brought home a top-five finish for Trigg County with a score of 287.

Trigg County didn’t field a full squad of 12 archers to qualify for a team score in the event, held to raise money to benefit the scholarship fund named after Holt, who was killed in a 2018 shooting at Marshall County High School.  Holt planned on becoming a nurse after high school, with the scholarship set up at Murray State University.

Trigg County’s scores Saturday were:

Audie Smith – 294 (1st in female)

Cole Joyce – 287 (5th in male)

Evan Shake – 283 (10th in male)

Kole Stagner – 282 (13th in male)

Joshua Ingram – 271 (25th in male)

Briana Hall-Johnstone – 267 (20th in female)

Avery Mackey – 222 (50th in female)

Kylie McCormick – 218 (52nd in female)

Connor Long (262) and Kerra Johnson (254) were Trigg County’s top shooters at the middle school level.
