Southwind Holds Off Tilghman 48-43 at Hoops Classic (w/PHOTOS)

Southwind turned a tie game into a 16-point lead in the second half, then held off Paducah Tilghman for a 48-43 victory Saturday at the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.

The teams were deadlocked 21-21 at halftime and still tied midway through the third quarter before the Memphis school opened up its lead.

Still, the Jaguars (11-5) had to survive a late run from Tilghman (7-4) that saw the Tornado get as close as four points in the final minute.

Vincent Thomas had 19 points for Southwind while Torien Stewart added 11 and Andre Eason 10.

Michael Laster led Tilghman with 17 points Mian Shaw had 10.

Thomas was selected the MVP for Southwind, which went 2-0 in its first West Kentucky Hoops Classic.

Tilghman’s MVP was Shaw. The Blue Tornado were playing in the Caldwell County event for the second time.
