Trigg County held off a pair of second half runs by Lyon County to grab a 47-42 win over the Lady Lyons and win the CCA Lady Warrior Classic in Paducah Saturday.  The Lady Wildcats (10-2) equaled their best start in program history and are the first Trigg team to win 10 games by New Year’s Day.

The first quarter featured five ties and three lead changes before Trigg used an 11-3 surge to take an 18-10 lead midway through the second quarter.  Trigg led by as many as 12 points in the quarter and took a 26-16 lead into intermission.

Lyon County’s Cathryn Brown scored seven straight points out of the locker room at halftime to cut Trigg’s lead to 26-23.

Leading 35-30 heading into the fourth quarter, Trigg’s lead never got larger than nine points or smaller than four.  Trigg couldn’t extend their lead thanks to 5-of-14 free throw shooting in the second half, and Lyon’s seven turnovers kept them from chipping into the lead.

Trigg County’s Marleigh Reynolds was named tournament MVP after a 16-point, 7-rebound performance in the championship game.  The Lady Wildcat sophomore totaled 58 points and 39 rebounds in the four tourney games.

Adri Phillips scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Olivia Noffsinger had nine points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Phillips was also named to the all-tourney team.
