Tigers’ Slide Continues With Loss to Northeast (w/PHOTOS)

Playing without injured leading scorer Don Victor for the second game in a row, the Hopkinsville Tigers dropped their fifth-straight with a 61-42 loss to visiting Northeast, TN on Tuesday night.

Arthur McKnight and Daisjuan Mercer combined for 11 points to start the game, but Northeast’s Josh Alexander scored 10 of the Eagles’s 14 first-quarter points and they led by 3 after one.

Northeast held Hoptown to only 4 points in the second quarter, while Isaiah Farrior and Jalen Hooks both matched that amount to help the Eagles outscore the Tigers 20-4 for a 34-15 halftime advantage.

Javon Smith-Rudd scored 5 of his team-high 12 in the third quarter and the Tiger defense limited the Eagles to 8, but still trailed by 16 to start the fourth.

Hopkinsville got 9 points from Reece Jesse over the final eight minutes, but Northeast held off the Tigers for the 19-point victory.
