The Hopkinsville boys’ basketball team put the brakes on a six-game losing streak with a 70-64 win over visiting South Warren on Saturday.  The Tigers pick up their eighth win of the season ahead of a three-game stretch against 8th-District competition, beginning with a trip to Fort Campbell on Tuesday.

Less than twenty-four hours after scoring 25 points in a hard-fought loss to Webster County, Hopkinsville’s Don Victor scored 5 first quarter points to help the Tigers to a 14-13 lead after one.

Victor added 6 in the second quarter, with Reece Jesse adding 5, and the Tigers took a 30-27 edge into the locker room at halftime.

Victor and Arthur McKnight both scored 8 in the third to lead a 27-point effort for the Tigers, and they took a 17-point advantage into the fourth quarter.

However, the Spartans weren’t going quietly, with Caden Veltcamp scoring 7 and Jace Carver and Will Faulkner combining for 10 points to lead the comeback.  McKnight scored 6 of the Tigers’ 13 points and they held off the Spartans for a 6-point win.
