Despite holding a lead at halftime on Saturday, the Todd County Central girls’ basketball team were overtaken in the second half to slip to its twelfth-straight loss with a 45-36 setback at the hands of visiting Friendship Christian School of Lebanon, TN.
Friendship Christian’s Rachel Pippen scored 5 first-quarter points to help the Commanders to a 10-7 lead after one, but the Lady Rebels tightened the defensive screws in the second and outscored the Commanders 12-5. Lucy Chester and Tamiya Foster combined for 8 points to help the Lady Rebels to a 19-15 halftime lead.
Pippen scored 8 of her game-high 18 to lead the third-quarter comeback for the Commanders, and they led 27-26 with a quarter to play. Chester scored 7 to try to lead the Lady Rebels back, but Savannah Craighead matched that output for Friendship Christian and they held on for the win.
