Storm Has 3-Game Win Streak After Overtime Win

After starting the season 0-13, Hopkins County Central now has a winning streak.

The Storm went on the road Tuesday night and outlasted Union County 72-70 in overtime.

It was Hopkins Central’s third-straight victory — and the squad’s fourth win in its last five games.

Hopkins Central (4-14) had four players score in double figures, led by Blasin Moore’s 16 points and Sam Almon’s 15. Johntize Miller and Jaxon Winn each had 12 points.

Union (6-10) got 25 points from Izaiah Manuel. Keishon Martin added 14 points. Kaleb Kanipe had 13 points and Eli Mackey 10 for the Braves.

It was the sixth-straight setback for Union.

The Braves led 32-27 at halftime. The Storm edged ahead 47-44 after three quarters before Union came back to force overtime at 68-68.

Hopkins Central has a big challenge coming up on Friday when it visits 7th District rival Madisonville-North Hopkins.
