Trigg County closed out the first half on a 15-4 run which served as the catalyst for a 61-49 win at Lyon County Tuesday.  The win was the third for the Lady Wildcats’ over Lyon this year and gives them their first four-game winning streak over the Lady Lyons since 1994-96.

It was Senior Night for the Lady Lyons.  Coach Jeff Doom started his five seniors – Ashleigh Butts, Ashlyn Doom, Taylyn Sutton, Kayden Watts, and Bella Ortiz.  They got the Lady Lyons out to an 11-8 lead in the opening quarter.

When the normal starters entered the game, they were able to maintain the three-point lead until the end of the quarter.

Watts hit her second 3-pointer of the half to put the Lady Lyons up 22-20 with 4:50 left in the half.  Trigg then countered with a 15-4 run.  Rylee Bush scored six of her game-high 18 points during the run to give the Lady Wildcats a 35-26 lead at halftime.

Calista Collins scored four straight points to being Lyon to within 38-34 midway through the third quarter, but the Lady Lyons would get no closer.

Marleigh Reynolds scored eight points in the fourth quarter as Trigg extended their lead to as many as 14 points before settling for the final 12-point win.  Reynolds finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

In addition to the 12-point margin on the scoreboard, Trigg County outscored Lyon by 12 points off turnovers (26-14) and by 12 points at the free throw line.  Trigg got to the line 42 times and hit 26.

Cathryn Brown led Lyon County with 11 points, with Watts and Rose Smith each scoring 10 points.

Trigg County finishes their district slate at 5-1.  If Crittenden County beats Livingston Central, they too will finish at 5-1 and force a coin toss for the No. 1 seed.  Lyon County will be the No. 3 seed, and Livingston Central is fourth.

Trigg County improves to 17-5 with the win.  The 17 wins is tied with the 1988-89 team for second-most in school history.  The record set a year later at 21 wins.  The Lady Wildcats will host Union County Thursday.

Lyon County (10-11) hosts Caldwell County Thursday.
