Playing without two of its top four scorers on Thursday night, the Christian County boys’ basketball team had no trouble finding the needed offense against visiting Fort Campbell, routing the Falcons 75-29.  Seniors Mikeon Mathis, Kobe Dillard and Stephen Bussell were honored before the game, with the trio going on to combine for 45 points in the victory.

Cameron Pratt knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Falcons an early advantage, but Bussell converted a layup with 4:14 left in the first quarter to give the Colonels a lead they would never relinquish.  Jalil Farrow scored all 6 of his points in the first quarter, while Mathis added 5 for a 17-6 Colonel lead after one.

The Colonels started the second with a 16-0 run to put the game away, including 7 of Bussell’s 10 second-quarter points and 7 from Dillard.  They outscored the Falcons 29-5 to take a 46-11 lead at halftime.

With the game in hand and a running clock, the teams combined for only 22 points in the third quarter, with Pratt scoring 5 for the Falcons and Mathis and Bussell each scoring 6 for the Colonels.

Christian County’s KJ Vaughn and George Sanders each put up 6 in the fourth, and the Colonels cruised to their third 8th-District win of the year.

The Colonels will be looking for their third win in four outings when they go on the road to Lincoln County on Saturday.  Fort Campbell welcomes West Creek, TN to post on Friday night.
