Peytons Lead Lady Maroons Past Caldwell 76-24

The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons locked up the No. 1 seed for the 7th District tournament by routing Caldwell County 76-24 Friday night.

Seniors Courtney Peyton and Lindsey Peyton combined for 33 points as Madisonville rolled on Senior Night at Maroon Gym.

The Lady Maroons (22-1, 6-0) scored the first six points of the night and never trailed, It was 22-9 after one quarter and 43-15 at halftime as Madisonville took advantage of a banged-up Caldwell squad.

The Lady Tigers (11-11, 3-2) had three seventh graders, an eighth grader and a freshman on the floor at one point in the second half.

Courtney Peyton finished with 17 points for Madisonville while sister Lindsey had 16. Somaya Stafford aded 10 points for the Lady Maroons.

Jacey Jaggers, who is still battling a knee injury, led Caldwell with eight points. Seventh grader Katy Smiley had six.

Caldwell will next play a makeup date at Hopkins County Central on Monday.

Madisonville is off until Saturday, Feb. 15, when the Lady Maroons visit Grayson County.

Madisonville will host the 7th District tournament starting Monday, Feb. 24.
