With two weeks left in the regular season, the Lyon County boys’ basketball team appears to be peaking at the right time, with Tuesday night’s 67-60 victory over visiting Hopkins County Central the third-straight and seventh in eight tries for the Lyons.  The Storm drop their third-straight ahead of a visit from Todd County Central on Monday.

Jackson Shoulders scored 6 points to help the Lyons to a 13-6 lead with a quarter played.  However, the second would be higher-scoring and more competitive, with Sam Almon and Trevor Wheldon combining for 10 of the Storm’s 17 points.  Lyon County’s Travis Perry countered with 11, and the Lyons took a 32-23 lead into halftime.

Perry stayed hot after the break with 7 more in the third and Shoulders added 5 for the Lyons, but the Storm stayed within striking range behind 8 points for Blasin Moore.

After beginning the fourth trailing by 11, Almon led the Storm rally with three 3-pointers while Weldon knocked down two.  Moore added 5 to help Hopkins Central to its highest-scoring quarter, but Gunnar Bingham scored 6 of his 12 for the game and the Lyons held on for a 7-point victory.
