Caldwell County’s girls are getting more comfortable playing without point guard Jada Boyd.

The Lady Tigers played one of their best games of the season on Friday, rolling past Trigg County 58-34 at the CAB gym in Princeton.

Just three weeks ago, Caldwell lost to the same Lady Wildcats 56-48 in Cadiz. But that was just six days after Boyd, a senior, was lost for the season with a knee injury sustained against Lyon County in the 2nd Region All A Classic championship game.

Caldwell (14-11) has reeled off three straight wins this week. The Lady Tigers need to win just one of their final three regular-season games to secure a winning season despite a myriad of injuries the last month. Caldwell has won five of its last seven contests.

Jacey Jaggers, playing on an injured knee, scored a game-high 18 points on Friday. Majah Hollowell added 16 and Bella McConnell scored 12 for the Lady Tigers, who used an 11-0 run to start the second quarter to grab control againt Trigg.

The game was tied 5-5 after one stanza, but a 3-pointer by Jaggers gave Caldwell a 16-5 lead just 2:09 into the second period.

By halftime, the Lady Tigers led 26-10.

Caldwell went up 31-10 early in the third quarter before Trigg (20-8) tried to battle its way back into the contest.

Iyanna Grubbs made two free throws to get the Lady Wildcats within 38-26 with still 7:06 left in the game.

However, Hollowell countered by burying a 3-pointer at the end other end, and Trigg could get no closer.

It was still a 12-point game, 46-34, with 4 minutes to play. But Caldwell finished the game with a 12-0 run to extend the final difference to 24 points.

Adri Phillips led Trigg with 15 points.

The Lady Tigers will play again Saturday when they travel to Ohio County for an afternoon contest.

Trigg County returns home on Tuesday to face Dawson Springs.
