Caldwell Goes 4-0 for Week by Topping Trigg 66-45

Caldwell County opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers from Cayden Fraliex and Tripp Branch, held Trigg County to just 15 points in the first half, and went on to capture a 66-45 victory Friday night in Princeton.

It’s the fourth win in five days for Caldwell, which improved to 13-14 heading into the final week of the regular season. The Tigers have had a solid showing since opening the season 0-5.

The Tigers never trailed while knocking off their former 5th District rivals from Cadiz for the second time this season.

Caldwell led just 14-9 after one quarter, but headed to the locker room at halftime with a 30-15 margin.

The Tigers led 40-20 in the third quarter before Trigg made a bid to get back in it.

Jhaden Vaughn scored 14 of his team-high 15 points to help the Wildcats get within nine points three times in the fourth quarter.

It was 54-45 with just over 3 minutes to play, but Caldwell finished the game with a 12-0 run to extend the final margin to 21 points.

Tripp Branch hit four 3-pointers and was 5-for-5 at the free throw line to lead the Caldwell scoresheet with 17 points.

Cayden Fraliex scored nine points in the first quarter and finished with 16 for the Tigers while Adarius Riley added 15.

Trigg, now 10-17, got 10 points apiece from Khyran Vaughn and JaKobe Bridges.

Caldwell has won its last five meetings with Trigg.
