With three-straight wins and only one loss in their last nine outings, the UHA Blazers appear to be playing their best basketball down the stretch of the regular season.  While they might not have been thrilled with every aspect of Thursday night’s meeting with hosts Fort Campbell, a comfortable 76-50 victory over the Falcons maintains the Blazers’ momentum toward the postseason.

The Blazers’ first six baskets of the game were layups, three for Amani McGee and two for KJ Crump, forcing a Fort Campbell timeout with a 12-0 UHA lead.  With :25 left in the first, Will Bryan scored in the lane for a 16-point cushion, and the Blazers led 20-7 after one.

After scoring 5 points in the first, Fort Campbell’s Cameron Pratt added 6 more in the second, and the Falcons closed to 11 points at 25-14 after Jeremiah Holley hit one of two free throws.  UHA answered with an 8-2 run capped by a Bryan layup, before Holley scored down low to keep the Falcons within 14.  However, Crump drilled a 3-pointer inside the final minute, and the Blazers led 36-19 at the halftime break.

Pratt scored 8 points in the first 2:30 of the third quarter, with a 3-point play trimming the Blazer advantage to 12.  But once again UHA had the answer.  Crump scored 7 points in a 14-0 spurt to stretch the lead to 26, and put UHA in control for good.  Fort Campbell’s Brock Elsberry hit a 3 with :40 left, and the Blazers led 54-31 with a quarter to play.

Both teams subbed heavily over the final eight minutes, with Fort Campbell’s Aiden Blaszkowski and UHA’s Nick Luckey taking full advantage of their opportunities.  Both drained a couple of 3-pointers, with Blaszkowski scoring 11, and Luckey putting up 8.  The Blazers came within 2 points of matching the margin from their December win over the Falcons, cruising to a 26-point victory.

UHA finished 34/74 from the field, including 5/23 from 3.  The Falcons shot 17/48, 6/22 from long range, while winning the rebounding battle 38-35.
