4th Quarter Free Throws Carry Butler County Past Lady Blazers

Butler County used a strong defensive effort in the final quarter to get past the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bears held the Lady Blazers to only two field goals over the final eight minutes as they moved out to pick up the 65-51 win.

UHA stayed right with Butler County through the opening half. Butler County led 16-12 after the first quarter. The Lady Blazers, behind the play of Lily Hendricks and Meghan Adams, came back to trim the lead to 26-24 going into the break.

The Lady Blazers appeared to have things going their way in the third quarter. Behind the ten points from Lily Hendricks, UHA tied the game at 41-41 going into the final eight minutes of the contest.

Butler County then racheted up the defense against the Lady Blazers in the final quarter. The Lady Bears defense combined with their timely free throw shooting in the final quarter enabled Butler County to move out to the 14 point win. The Lady Bears knocked down 13 of 17 at the free throw line in the final quarter.

Lily Hendricks scored 17 points to lead the Lady Blazers. Meghan Adams added 11 points. Mallory Rager and Aniah Dailey finished with six points each for UHA.

Butler County was led by Taylin Clark with 17 points. Gracie Cardwell finished with 15 points. Jaelyn Taylor added 13 points, including 11 of 17 from the free throw line.

With the loss, UHA falls to 6-18 on the season.
