Blazers Rally for OT Win at Owensboro Catholic

It has been somewhat a common theme for the UHA Blazers during the 2019-2020 season. The Blazers fell behind in the first half and then rallied to come away with a 75-73 overtime road win Monday night at Owensboro Catholic.

The Blazers had trouble containing the Aces offense early on in the contest. Owensboro Catholic held a 20-16 lead after the opening quarter. The Aces would extend that lead to 40-32 going into the locker room at the break.

K.J. Crump and Amani McGee keep the Blazers in the contest in the first half. Crump scored 17, while McGee added 13, for all but two of UHA’s first half points.

When the two teams came out for the second half, the Blazers began their familiar rally. Crump and McGee continued their play in the second half, and got some help from Will Bryan, as the Blazers battled back to force overtime at 67-67.

In the extra period, Crump and McGee scored all 8 of the Blazer points as UHA managed to nose out the Aces at the wire.

K.J. Crump led the Blazer attack with 33 points. Amani McGee added 27. Will Bryan also reached double figures for UHA with 10 points, all of them coming in the second half.

The Aces were led by Brian Griffith with 17 points.

With the win, the Blazers improve to 14-10, and will return to action Tuesday on the road at Caldwell County.
