It was a great way to finish off the day for Hopkinsville’s Ella Falco. The Hopkinsville High School junior swam a great consolation final in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing 2nd in the race. The 2nd place in the consolation final places Falco 10th in the state for 2020 in the 200 freestyle.

Falco finished Friday night with a time of 1:56.34, which was more than a second better than her prelim time of 1:57.93 Friday morning. She finished 2nd in the consolation final to Riette Bloomfield, of Scott County, who won the consolation final with a time of 1:54.80.

Falco had a great start coming off the block, with solid turns at each end. Her kick coming down the final leg of swim sealed her Top 10 finish.

Her appearance in the finals Friday night was her second straight. She will have the chance to make it three in a row in 2021.

Afterwards, Falco spoke with YourSportsEdge about the day and her race that gave her a Top 10 finish.
