The game was a lot closer than the final score indicated, but Crittenden County held on for a 48-35 win over Livingston Central in the semifinals of the girls’ 5th District Tournament Monday.

Crittenden, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, had handily beaten Livingston twice during the regular season but didn’t get a double-digit advantage until late in the game.

The Lady Rockets ended the first half with a 6-1 run to take a 27-20 lead into intermission.  Livingston cut the deficit to 36-33 with 7:24 left, but Crittenden ended the game on a 12-2 run for the final margin.

Freshman Taylor Guess led Crittenden County with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  Jaelyn Duncan added 10 points for the Lady Rockets, who hit 44-percent of their shots. Crittenden also hit 14-of-18 free throws.

Lauren Wring led Livingston Central with 12 points.  Gracie Downey scored seven points, and Kerah Davidson and Victoria Joiner both scored six points.  Livingston shot 29-percent from the field and hit just 6-of-17 free throws.

Crittenden County (18-9) will play in Thursday’s district championship game and advance to next week’s region tournament.
