Lady Warriors Live to Play Another Day in KCAA State Tourney

Heritage Christian Academy advanced to the quarterfinals of the KCAA Girls’ State Basketball Tournament by holding off Somerset Christian 41-37 Monday at Warrior Gym.

HCA got balanced scoring and outscored Somerset Christian 23-11 in the second and third quarters to build a 37-24 lead after three quarters.  HCA was able to hold off Somerset at the end to pick up the win.

Logan Gibson led the Lady Warriors with 10 points and six rebounds.  Ashton Craft added eight points, and Meredith Crunk and Kinley Deason both scored six points.

Ali Ricks, who recently passed 1,000 career points, led Somerset Christian with 15 points.

Heritage Christian Academy improved to 5-17 with the win.  The Lady Warriors will play Oak Ridge Christian, the defending state runner-up and No. 2 seed in the tournament, Thursday at West Jessamine High School.  HCA lost to Oak Ridge Saturday 43-32 in the region championship.
