Heritage Christian Academy saw their boys’ basketball season come to an end Tuesday with an 80-40 loss to Trinity Christian in the KCAA State Tournament quarterfinals in Louisville.
Trinity, the runner-up in the Fourth Region, scored 29 points in both the first and second quarters in building a 58-22 lead by halftime.
Senior Elijah Britton scored 14 points for the Warriors in his final game. Weston Powell added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Trenton Hayes and Derek Wadlington both scored six points.
Joseph Waters scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the first half.
Heritage Christian came into the tournament as the No. 11 seed. Trinity Christian was ranked No. 4 in the final KCAA Power Poll of the season but was dropped to a No. 6 seed.
The Warriors end their season with a 5-26 record. However, they lose only one starter to graduation and advanced to the semifinals of the KCAA State Junior Varsity Tournament.
