Christian County put up seven runs over the final four innings to pull out a 7-6 victory at Caldwell County in a baseball scrimmage on Saturday.

The Colonels fell behind 5-0 in the first inning before coming back to win by a run at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton.

It was the first scrimmage of the preseason for both squads, with each side sending six pitchers to the mound for what was an eight-inning contest.

Bryson Brown tossed a scoreless seventh inning for the Colonels and picked up the win when Christian scored once in the top of the eighth to break a 6-6 tie.

Brylle Javier was the only Colonel with more than one base hit, going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.

Cody Holub led Caldwell’s offense, going 2-for-3 and knocking in a run.

Christian scored twice in the fifth, once in the sixth and three times in the seventh to tie things.

Both teams will continue prepping for their regular-season openers on Monday, March 16. Christian will host Franklin-Simpson that day while Caldwell entertains Crittenden County.
