Hopkins Central’s Girls Returning Everyone in 2020-21

Hopkins County Central’s girls did not have a senior on the roster this season, meaning everyone should be back following a 9-18 campaign for the Lady Storm.

Hopkins Central played well down the stretch, claiming wins over Christian County, Todd County Central and Lyon County while winning three of its final five regular-season games.

However, the Lady Storm came up just short in the 7th District tournament, falling to Caldwell County 47-36 in the semifinals.

Madison Grigg, an all-region performer in 2019-20, returns for her senior season after leading the team with 12.2 points a game this season.

Sophomore Briana Fritz and freshman Emile Jones were next on the team in scoring at 6.9 points per contest each. Junior Keri Reynolds scored 4.5 points a game.

Junior Keli Reynolds scored 4.3 points and grabbed 5.1 rebounds a night while freshman Mercy Sutton also scored 4.3 points while averaging a team-high 6.2 rebounds a contest.

Hailie Hollis, a junior, scored 4.1 points game as did sophomore Kire Peyton, giving head coach Nancy Oldham lots of options looking ahead to next season.

That will be a nice change of pace for the Lady Storm, who entered 2019-20 with just one returning starter off a 12-16 squad the year before.

With the other teams in the district all suffering substantial losses to graduation, Hopkins Central may have a head start in the district chase next season.
