First Five

Christy Soldo (2008-12) – A four-time All-District selection, Soldo led the Lady Tigers to a district title as a junior, passing the 1,000 point barrier and earning an All-Region nomination as well.  But it was her senior season that would cement her legacy.  She led the team in both points and rebounds with 18.9 ppg and 9.5 rpg, helping the Lady Tigers to a second-straight district title and a regional championship.

In the program’s first trip to the state tournament, Soldo poured in 24 points, including the go-ahead basket with less than a minute to play, to send the Lady Tigers past Marshall County and into the Elite Eight.

Soldo graduated as the program’s all-time leading scorer, while earning Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention.  She was named KABC Region Player of the Year and 2nd Region Player and Athlete of the Year, while also becoming the first Lady Tiger named to the KY All-Star Team.  At the conclusion of her high school career, she signed with Murray State University.

Ashlee Cole (2008-12) – Cole helped the Lady Tigers to a 22-4 record and a district title in her junior season, before being instrumental in the program’s first trip to the Sweet Sixteen as a senior.  She was second on the team in both points and rebounds as a senior, posting 10.7 ppg and 9.2 rpg.  After helping guide the Lady Tigers into the Elite Eight, Cole was named to both the All-District and All-Region teams.

Farasia Hodge (2012-16) – Hodge made her name with the Lady Tigers by dominating in the paint, averaging double-digit rebounds in both her last two seasons.  She posted 8.5 points and just over 11 rebounds per game during her junior campaign, earning All-District and All-Region recognition.  Hodge upped her scoring average to 12 ppg as a senior, while pulling down a team-high 13.4 rebounds per game, good enough for 5th in the state.  In addition to another All-Region nod, she was named All-State Honorable Mention.

Hodge signed with State Fair Community College out of high school, before moving on to John A. Logan College, where she averaged 12.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and earning Great River All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region recognition.  She finished her college career at NCAA D1 Western Carolina, appearing in fifty-seven games for the Catamounts.

Breon Oldham (2014-19) – Oldham began her high school career as an 8th grader, posting 2.5 points and just over 2 rebounds per game.  She steadily increased her output over the course of the next four years, helping the Lady Tigers to back-to-back district titles as a freshman and sophomore.  As a junior, she averaged 13.2 ppg and 3.6 rpg, earning All-District and All-Region recognition.  Oldham passed the 1,000 point mark as a senior, leading the team with just a shade over 15 ppg to go with 4.2 rebounds per outing.  She was once again named to both the All-District and All-Region teams.

She signed with Shawnee Community College, excelling in her freshman campaign with 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

Janiya Davis (2015-17) – Davis may be the only 8th-District athlete to play for Christian County, UHA, and Hopkinsville, spending her freshman and sophomore years with the Lady Colonels and then the Lady Blazers, before joining the Lady Tigers for her junior and senior seasons.  After having her eligibility restored, she appeared in twelve games during her junior campaign, posting a team-high 17.2 ppg, while pulling down 8.2 rebounds per game on the way to a district championship.  As a senior, she led the Lady Tigers with 15.8 points per outing to go with 7.6 rpg, capturing a second-straight district title.  Davis was named to both the KABC East/West All-Star Game and the KY vs. Ohio All-Star Game.

Davis signed with Vincennes University, averaging 10.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, before moving on to Highland College as a sophomore.  She excelled with the Lady Cougars, scoring 16.5 ppg, good enough for third in the conference, while pulling down 5.3 rpg and earning Third Team All-American honors.

Second Five

Hayley Cook (2010-14) – Cook helped the Lady Tigers to back-to-back district titles in her freshman and sophomore years, including a 19-point performance in the district-title win over UHA.  She posted 10 points and 2.3 rebounds on the way to a 32-5 record that season, that included a regional title and the program’s first trip to the state tournament.

After high school, Majors went to Cleveland State, where she started 24 games and posted averages of 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds, before upping her output to 11.3 ppg and 4.2 rpg in 29 starts as a sophomore.  Majors would finish her he career at Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN.

Jaliyah Grubbs (2012-17) – Beginning with her 8th grade year, Grubbs spent five seasons with the Lady Tigers, contributing to steady improvement each season.  She posted 11.9 points per game as a sophomore, second on the team, to go with 3.4 rebounds per outing.  As a junior, she helped the Lady Tigers to a district title, while averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Jayla Rose (2015-19) – Rose was a part of district title teams in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, helping out with 2.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg on a 23-9 team that picked up the program’s first win in the region tournament in five years.  She exploded as a junior, scoring a team-high 16 points per game on 52.7% shooting, while also pulling down 7.6 rebounds per outing.  Rose was second on the team in scoring and rebounding as a senior, with 15 ppg and 7.3 rpg.
