Allison Murphy
The Lyon County Lady Lyons have seen some strong players come through the program over the last decade.
These are the top 10 players from the last 10 years (2010-11 season through this past season).
Here is the first team:
Allison Murphy — Murphy was a three-time All-2nd Region Team selection. She averaged a double-double as the team’s only senior in 2018-19, getting 11.6 points and 10.6 rebounds a contest. She finished with 1,351 points and 1,144 rebounds at Lyon. For her career, Murphy averaged 11.4 points and 9.5 rebounds a game.
Allison West — West averaged a team-best 17.4 points a game as a senior in the 2010-11 season, helping the Lady Lyons compile a 17-10 record that season. Lyon upset Henderson County 63-61 in the first round of the 2nd Region tournament that season but fell to Christian County 49-47 in the semifinals. West was named to the All-2nd Region team by coaches. She went on to play at Murray State University.
Jill P’Poole — P’Poole battled injuries throughout her career, but was the team’s leading scorer as a sophomore with 389 points in the 2011-12 season. She also led the squad in rebounds (282), assists (99) and steals (69). P’Poole was selected to the All-2nd Region Team in 2014 following her senior season. She then signed to play college basketball at John A. Logan.
Rebecca Somers — Somers, who topped 1,000 career points in a Lyon uniform, scored 15.6 points and averaged 6.8 rebounds a game as a senior while helping the Lady Lyon hoops team compile a 22-8 record while winning the 5th District championship. Somers was named to the All-2nd Region team that year. She went on to play both college basketball and softball at Brescia University in Owensboro.
Aubrey Riggs — Riggs, a guard, was an All-2nd Region selection in 2011 after helping Lyon go 17-10 and upset Henderson County in the first round of the regional tournament. Riggs went on to play basketball and softball at Shawnee College.
Here is the second team:
Barrett Blackburn — Blackburn led the team in scoring with 14.2 points a game and also averaged 5.0 rebounds as the Lady Lyons went 20-9 in the 2014-14 season. Blackburn was named to the All-2nd Region team as a senior in 2015.
Melanie P’Poole — P’Poole was second on the team in scoring as a senior with 10.4 points a game. She also grabbed 6.4 rebounds a contest to help Lyon go 22-8 in ther 2015-16 season. As a junior, P’Poole averaged 11.5 points and a team-high 7.6 boards.
Hannah Holloman — Holloman averaged 10.7 points a game and 8.3 rebounds as a senior in the 2017-18 season, helping the Lady Lyons forge an 18-10 mark that season. She finished her career with more than 700 points and over 650 rebounds.
Rose Smith — Smith, a sophomore, led the Lady Lyons in scoring this past season at 13.1 points a game. She also grabbed 5.1 rebounds a contest. Smith will enter her junior season with 577 career points. Smith helped the Lady Lyons win the 2nd Region All A Classic championship this past season.
Cathryn Brown — Only a freshman, Brown was second on the team in scoring this season at 12.0 points a game. Brown has already totaled 501 career points. Like Smith, Brown helped the Lady Lyons win the 2nd Region All A Classic championship this past season.
