Alabama 7A Champs Headed to Hoops Classic

It’s not the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, but it is the Lee Generals from Montgomery, Alabama, which will play in the 2020 West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.

Robert E. Lee High School is the seventh boys’ team that has been announced for this year’s event, which is set for Dec. 28-29 at Caldwell County’s CAB gym.

The Lee Generals are the Class 7A state champions from Alabama and finished the season with a No. 2 ranking among all classes in Alabama. Lee finished the year with a 33-1 mark and was No. 25 in the MaxPreps.com Xcellent 25 national ranking.

The list of boys’ teams playing in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic also features the Pontotoc Warriors from Mississippi; the Bartlett Panthers from near Memphis, Tenn.; the Independence Patriots from Charlotte, N.C.; the Huffman Vikings from Birmingham, Ala.; the Ridge View Blazers from Columbia, S.C.; and the host Caldwell County Tigers in this year’s event.

That’s seven of the 10 boys’ teams which will compete in this year’s event.

It also features four girls’ teams — host Caldwell County, Lyon County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Mayfield.

The West Kentucky Hoops Classic will feature 14 games over two days, Dec. 28-29, at the CAB gym.
