One of the top teams from the Bluegrass State is the eighth team announced for the 2020 West Kentucky Hoops Classic.

Fern Creek High School from Louisville, champion of the 6th Region, will visit Princeton Dec. 28-29 to play two games at the CAB gym.

The Fern Creek Tigers were 28-6 this season and were set to carry a 15-game winning streak into Rupp Arena for the boys Sweet 16 before the coronavirus put a stop to the sports world.

Fern Creek was ranked No. 4 in the state of Kentucky by MaxPreps.com and will be returning just about its entire roster next season.

In addition to Fern Creek, the other teams scheduled to play in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic are the Lee Generals from Montgomery, Ala.; the Pontotoc Warriors from Mississippi; the Bartlett Panthers from near Memphis, Tenn.; the Independence Patriots of Charlotte, N.C.; the Huffman Vikings from Birmingham, Ala.; the Ridge View Blazers of Columbia, S.C.; and the host Caldwell County Tigers.

Two more boys’ teams are still to be announced.

The Hoops Classic also features four girls’ teams, which were all announced earlier — host Caldwell County, Lyon County, Madisonville-North Hopkins and Mayfield.

The West Kentucky Hoops Classic will feature 14 games over two days at Caldwell County High School.
