Sam Almon, 2019-20 Hopkins Central senior

A pair of 1,000-point scorers — Damontae Barnhill and Tylan Mann — head up the Hopkins County Central Storm’s All-Decade Basketball.

These are the top 10 Hopkins Central players from the last 10 years (2010-11 season through this past season).

Here is the first team:

Damontae Barnhill — Barnhill scored over 1,400 points in a Hopkins Central uniform. Barnhill was twice named to the coaches’ association’s All-2nd Region Team. He poured in 20.5 points a game as a senior in the 2016-17 season while helping the Storm go 21-10. He was also second on the team in rebounding with 4.9 a contest. As a junior the year before, Barnhill scored 20.4 points a night. Barnhill was a junior this past season on the basketball team at Brescia University.

Tylan Mann — Mann was named to the All-2nd Region Team in both 2018 and 2019. He topped 1,300 career points. That includes a 21.9 points a game average as a senior in 2018-19. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds a game that year. As a juinor, Mann led Hopkins Central with 16.9 points a game and grabbed 5.7 boards a contest.

Chris Campbell — Campbell was selected for the coaches’ All-2nd Region Team as a senior in the 2012-13 season. Campbell led the team in scoring at 18 points a game that year while averaging around 6 rebounds a contest.

Mason Burgett — Burgett scored almost 700 points at Hopkins County Central. He was chosen to the All-7th District Team in both 2016 and 2017. Burgett was the second-leading Storm scorer as a senior in the 2016-17 campaign at 12.3 points a contest. The previous season, he was second on the team at 11.2 points a game.

Blasin Moore — Moore was named to the All-7th District Team in both 2018 and 2020. As a sophomore in the 2017-18 season, he scored 9.1 points a game and led the Storm with 6.5 rebounds. He scored 11.2 points a game as a junior and 9.4 points as a senior. He finished his career at Hopkins Central with 868 points and 620 rebounds.

Here is the second team:

Jackson Porter — Porter was named to the All-7th District Team in both 2016 and 2017. He averaged 11.3 points a game for the Storm’s 21-10 team as a senior in 2016-17. Porter finished his career at Hopkins Central with 646 points.

Shelby Myers — Myers led the Storm in scoring in the 2014-15 season with 13.5 points a contest. He was also tops in rebounds with 6.6 a game. Myers was chosen for the All-7th District Team in both 2014 and 2015.

Jonathan Jones — Jones was second on the team in scoring in the 2012-13 season with 16 points a game while also averaging nine rebounds a contest that season. He was named to the All-7th District Team as a senior in 2013.

Sam Almon — Almon was named to the All-2nd Region Team this season after leading the Storm with 11.0 points a game and shooting 82.1 percent from the free throw line. Almon totaled 749 points in a Storm uniform.

Nick Hopper — Hopper was named to the All-coaches association’s All-2nd Region Team in 2012 after leading the Storm in scoring that year. He was also named to the All-7th District Team following his senior season of 2011-12.
