A multi-sport athlete at Hopkinsville High School has decided where he will continue his athletic and educational career. Xavier Bussell announced Monday that he would be attending Western Kentucky University and would be involved with the Hilltopper track & field program.
While his senior season was wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bussell’s junior year was one filled with superlatives. Bussell was named to the 2019 All-Area Track Team. Bussell set the Hopkinsville High School record in the 100-meter dash in 2019. Bussell suffered a leg injury in the region meet and did not participate in the 2019 state track meet.
In addition to abilities on the track, Bussell was also a standout at goalie for the Hopkinsville boys soccer team. He was in goal during the 2018 season when the Tigers reached the state semifinals.
