After leading Christian County in scoring with 14.4 points per game as a senior, Stephen Bussell has committed to continue his basketball career at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois. The Saints play in the NJCAA in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
In addition to leading the Colonels in points, Bussell also led the team with 63 made 3-pointers and was second with 4.5 rebounds per contest. He helped the Colonels to their first 8th-District title since the 2015-16 season, while also scoring a team-high 23 points in a 3-point loss to eventual 2nd Region champions Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Bussell earned All-District and All-Region recognition, while also being named to the Region All-Tournament team. After his team dealt with injuries all season, coach Kerry Stovall said of his group, “true strength is not evident in easy times, but instead in tough times.” He added his team, “played at their best when games mattered most – post season.”
Bussell joins a Saints team coming off a 14-16 season, including a 9-9 mark in conference play.
