After 301 wins and two 2nd Region championships, Bradley Stallins is stepping down following 18 seasons as Caldwell County’s baseball coach.

Stallins is the school’s all-time wins leader, but was unable to add to that total this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic wiping out the Tigers’ — and everyone else’s — 2020 season.

Stallins compiled a 301-212 record in his time on the Caldwell bench.

Stallins’ run was highlighted by back-to-back regional championships in 2016 and 2017.

Caldwell was also state runner-up in the All A Classic in 2017, losing a marathon 10-inning game with Louisville Holy Cross in the championship.

The Tigers won seven-straight 7th District championships from 2012-18.

“It was just time,” said Stallins, a former Tiger three-sport standout (football, basketball, baseball) before playing college baseball at Campbellsville. “With everything going on, this just felt like the right time to let someone else take over.

“I’m hoping to move into administration in a couple of years and, with the up-and-coming team we’ve got, they need someone that could put all the time into them that they deserve.”

Stallins said he was also giving up assisting on the Caldwell football coaching staff.

He told his baseball players he was stepping down during a team meeting Thursday afternoon.

“I’m not completely ruling out coaching again,” Stallins added. “Maybe somewhere down the road, when I’m retired from everything else, maybe I’ll be ready to coach again and give it the time it deserves.”
