Caldwell County’s Adarius Riley saved his best for last.

Riley poured in 29 points — 21 in the first half — but the Tigers fell to Lyon County 65-59 in the first round of the 2nd Region tournament in Hopkinsville.

Riley led the Tigers in scoring as a senior, putting up 13.1 points a game for a balanced Caldwell squad that finished with a 16-16 record.

Riley shot 54.7 percent from the field, including 37 percent from 3-point range. He connected on 74.2 percent of his free throws.

That was more than enough to get the eye of several college coaches, with Riley ultimately deciding to play college basketball at the University of Pikeville.

A signing ceremony was held for Riley and his family Friday afternoon outside of the main entrance at Caldwell County High School.

Riley heads to a UPike Bears team that went 20-11 last season, losing to the University of the Cumberlands 76-73 in overtime in the Mid-South Conference championship game.

Pikeville is an NAIA school located in far eastern Kentucky.
