Tigers’ Folz Grabs Top-5 Bluegrass Tour Finish at Paxton Park

Hopkinsville’s James Folz overcame gusty winds on Wednesday at Paxton Park Country Club in Paducah to post a +7 78 at the Bluegrass Golf Tour stop, tying for 5th-place on the day in the 15-18 division.

McCracken County’s Garrett Rikel took the top spot with a +3 74, followed by Webster County’s Grant Puckett with a 75.  Marshall County’s Trey Wall shot a 76 to finish 3rd, followed by Murray State-bound Tyler Abernathy with a 77.

Folz posted a 40 on the front 9 and followed with a 38 on the back to tie St. Mary’s Palmer Sims for 5th.  Trigg County’s Hunter Reynolds was 10th with an 84, while teammate Ty Butts finished in the top 20 after shooting an 88.

Wednesday’s scores were combined with those from June 4 at Calvert City, with Marshall County’s Wall taking the top overall spot in the Combo Regional with a +6 149.  Puckett and Abernathy tied for 2nd with a 155, followed by Folz with twin 78s and a +13 156.  Trigg’s Reynolds was unable to capitalize on a 73 last week, finishing 5th overall with a 157.
