Lyon County Post 68 Suffers First Setback

After winning four straight games to open the season, the Lyon County Post 68 Aces suffered their first loss of the year on Saturday.

Lyon could not overcome a 4-0 deficit in falling 4-3 to Parkwood (Tenn.) in the Chappel Allen Invitational at Lee S. Jones Park.

The Post 68 Aces made things interesting late by putting up single tallies in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to get as close as 4-3.

But Lyon could never get a key hit with men on base. The Aces stranded 11 baserunners in the contest.

Aidan Rush was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double while Collin Price went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Post 68. Cody Holub doubled and scored twice for the Lyon County American Legion squad.

Post 68 starting pitcher Cameron Clements suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out six and waling one while pitching into the fourth inning. Tate Quertermous blanked Parkwood the rest of the way on two base hits. He fanned three and walked none.

Post 68 will next host Owensboro on Sunday.
