It was a pretty good first outing of the summer golf season for Hopkinsville’s Cate Blane Wednesday. The 8th grader shot an 8-over par 79 to take first place in the Girls 14 & Under division of the Bluegrass Golf Tour’s stop at the Hopkinsville Golf & Country Club. Blane finished in a tie with Skylar Waller, of Murray, but won the tiebreaker to claim the win.
Blane had her struggles on the front nine. She finished the front with a 7-over par 42. Blane had three bogeys and a double bogey, and a triple bogey in the first nine holes.
Blane then got on a role on the back nine of the course, shooting a 1-over par 37 to close out her round. She had two bogeys, one birdie, and six pars over the final nine holes.
Sydney McClanahan, of Bowling Green, finished in third place, six shots behind Blane and Waller.
