Bingham Stays Hot as Prospects Go 1-0-1 Saturday

The Kentucky Prospects 16U picked up their 11th win of the summer Saturday as they went 1-0-1 Saturday at the Music City Classic. The Prospects knocked off 5 Star National MidSouth 16U in their opening game of the day, before playing M.A.D. Rawlings Southeast Mavericks 16U to a 4-4 tie in their second game of the day.

In the opener, the Prospects scored 6 runs in their first two at bats to take a lead they would not give up. Lyon County’s Gunnar Bingham had another big game at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, a triple, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. Fellow Lyon Jackson Shoulders was 1-2, with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.

Caldwell County’s Logan Smiley was 1-1, with a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Lyon County’s Luke Gilbert went one inning on the mound in relief, giving up one run on three hits.

In the second game, the prospects scored a run in the bottom of the 8th to end the game in a tie, after the Mavericks 16U had taken a one run lead in the top of the inning.

Gunnar Bingham continued his torrid hitting, going 2-4, with two runs scored. Jackson Shoulders finished 1-3, with a double and 2 RBIs.

On the mound, Hopkinsville’s Jacob Dilday went six innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out six, while walking two.
