Jay Nimmo Finishes Strong to Take 16th at Kentucky Junior Amateur

7-9-nimmo

Despite a four-hole bobble on the front nine, Jay Nimmo carded an even-par 72 in the final round of the Kentucky Junior Amateur at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club in Richmond that included a 32 on the back nine.

The defending KHSAA state champion from Marshall County was 1-under par after five holes but had a triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 sixth hole and bogeyed two of the final three holes on the front nine.

Nimmo caught fire on the back nine, starting with a birdie on No. 10.  He added a bird on the par-5 13th hole and birdied the final two holes to finish his round at even par.

The lefty who has committed to Mississippi State finished the two-day event at 1-over par which tied him for 16th place.

Lexington Sayre freshman Hayden Adams chipped in for birdie on the first hole of sudden death to defeat Rylan Wotherspoon of Florence and win the individual title at 7-under.
