Owen Matthews is a 10-year old Lyon County resident who is involved in a fight against cancer, and next week Owen and his family get some help from some area athletes. The Lyon County American Legion Post #68 baseball team will be hosting the #OwenTough fundraiser Friday, July 17, at Lee S. Jones Park, in Eddyville.
The evening will feature an alumni baseball game between the current Post 68 team and past players. As a part of the game, there will be a home run contest, “Homers for Owen”, after the 3rd inning and after the 6th inning. One way you can help out the cause is to pledge an amount for every home run that is hit during the home run contest and the game.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction featuring unique items and memorablia.
All of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to assist Owen and his family as Owen continues his fight against brain cancer.
The event is set to get underway at 5:00pm.
