A solid start to their appearance in the 2020 WWBA 16U National Championship for the Kentucky Prospects 16U team. The Prospects ended the weekend with a 2-1 record in their pool, with two more pool games yet to be played in the event.

The Prospects began play Friday with a 13-0 four inning win over Futures 16U. The Prospects erupted for 8 runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Lyon County’s Gunnar Bingham led the attack for the Prospects going 3-3, with a double, a walk, two runs, and an RBI. His Lyons’ teammate Brody Williams ended up 1-3 with an RBI.

On the mound, Lyon County’s Jackson Shoulders got the start and went one inning, giving up one hit and striking out two.

In their second game of the tournament on Saturday, the Prospects scored 8 runs in their final three at bats as they rolled to an 8-0 win over Team Georgia 16U Gold.

Brody Williams was 1-2, with a double and two RBIs. Gunnar Bingham finished 1-1, with three walks, an RBI, and a run scored.

Things did not go as well for the Prospects in their final game of the weekend portion of the event. The FTB/SF Giants Scout Team 2022 roughed up the Prospects for six runs in the first inning Sunday and then cruised out to the 8-0 win.

Gunnar Bingham was 1-2, while Brody Williams was 2-2, as the Prospects were limited to just three hits in the game.

The Prospects will finish pool play with games Monday and Tuesday. The tournament is being played in Marietta, Georgia.
