Hannah Sumner was able to answer bogeys with birdies in the first round of the Kentucky Junior PGA Girls’ Amateur, but that wasn’t the case in Friday’s second round.

The Christian County alum carded three birdies in Thursday’s first round and finished with a 6-over 78 at the Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown.  She fired a 1-over 37 on the front nine.

On Friday, Sumner managed one birdie and six pars in finishing her round with a 90.  Sumner finished the two-day event at 24-over which was good for a tie for 32nd place.

Lexington’s Delia Gibbs, who will attend Belmont University this fall, edged Marshall County junior Savannah Howell by one shot to win the title.  Gibbs shot an even-par 72 in the final round and finished the two-day event at 2-over.
