Jordan Hampton and Hunter Shelton had one of the biggest bags of fish Sunday and finished fourth at the Kentucky Bass Nation High School Championship on Nolin Lake.

The Trigg County High anglers caught 14.21 pounds of fish Sunday to jump from 13th place Saturday to fourth place.  One of their fish wasn’t alive by the time it made it to the scales which resulted in a half-pound penalty.

They finished with 21.5 pounds of fish over the two days.  Will and Clay Oberman, who fish at Garrard County High School, won the event with a total of 24.41 pounds.  Allen Powe and Jonathon Combs from George Rogers Clark High School finished second with 23.87 pounds.

Hampton and Shelton missed their spring season in high school due to COVID-19.  It’s the first time Trigg County high anglers have placed high in a non-KHSAA national fishing tournament.

Gary Houha served as the duo’s boat captain for the weekend on Nolin Lake.
