VIDEO – Cathryn Brown Doesn’t Skirt the Issue of Losing an On-Course Wager

Cathryn Brown sported a new look Saturday when she took the course at the Ballard Memorial Invitational.  While most high school golfers wear skirts as part of their golf uniform, the Lyon County sophomore is a ‘shorts gal.’

In the season-opening match at Murray, Brown was in a pairing with McCracken County’s Madison Glisson and Murray’s Mary Browder Howell.  Glisson was facing a long putt, and Brown bet her that if she made the putt, she would wear a skirt during a round.  Glisson agreed to the wager and promptly buried the 30-footer.

Many of Cathryn’s friends attended the visitation of her brother Cullan, who died Aug. 4 from cancer.  Knowing Brown likely did not have a golf skirt in her wardrobe, St. Mary’s Ellie Roof gave Cathryn a gift that included a golf skirt.  She wore the skirt on the course Saturday while playing in a group with Glisson and Howell.

Even after making an eagle on the 18th hole that closed her round with a score of 77, Cathryn said the skirt is likely to not appear again — along with making on-course wagers regarding her choice of wardrobe.
