Gage Smiley was able to miss a heavy rain that suspended play and put together two solid sides of the course to win the All-A Classic Boys’ Region golf title Saturday.

Heavy rain delayed the event at the Hopkinsville Country Club before Smiley’s group began their round.  The Dawson Springs sophomore was able to shoot a 40 on the front nine in light rain and come in with a 41 on the back nine.  His round of 81 was one shot better than Jiles Wyatt of University Heights Academy and Evan Belt of Crittenden County.

Both Smiley and Wyatt will advance to next month’s All-A Classic State Tournament at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.  Belt will advance to the state tournament with the Crittenden squad who took the team title.

Dawson Springs finished as runner-up, 12 shots behind Crittenden.

Carlton McCuiston shot a 95, followed by Addison Whalen [96], Greyson Brewer [98], and Kolby Crook [118].
