Cansler Hat Trick Helps Lady Blazers Advance Past Lyon in All A Classic

Kate Cansler had a hat trick to help University Heights Academy beat Lyon County 7-1 in 2nd Region All A Classic action in Eddyville on Tuesday.

The Lady Blazers fell behind 1-0 early in the contest before coming back to take a 3-1 advantage at halftime.

Three late goals helped UHA salt away the victory in the semifinal contest.

The Lady Blazers will return to Eddyville on Friday to take on Crittenden County in the regional championship game at 6 p.m.

Samantha Hooper gave the Lady Lyons the lead in the 12th minute when her shot was mishandled in front of the UHA net. Rose Smith picked up the assist on the play.

UHA countered with Cansler’s first goal, coming on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute, to tie things at 1-1.

Piper Hancock registered the go-ahead tally in the 32nd minute, knocking a shot off the post to give the Lady Blazers a 2-1 lead.

Cansler recorded her second goal in the 37th minute to put UHA up 3-1 at the break.

Grace Pape made it 4-1 in the 51st minute.

Emma Perry blasted a shot off the keeper’s hands in the 70th minute to make it 5-1.

Cansler’s third goal came just a minute later to push the margin to 6-1.

Pape’s second tally came from the top of the box in the 76th minute to put UHA up 7-1.

Maddie Krus recorded 19 saves in the Lyon net.
