It was an impressive early season win for the Caldwell County Lady Tigers Thursday evening. Caldwell County took control of the match early and then rolled to a 6-1 win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers at the Stadium of Champions. It was the first win for Caldwell over Hopkinsville since a 1-0 win in the 2017 2nd Region tournament.

It took Caldwell County just 8 ½ minutes to get on the board Thursday evening. Kaylee McEnaney broke open behind the defense, going down the right hand side of the field, and drilled a shot into the left side of the net to make it 1-0. Just three minutes later, Kendall Boyd spun in front of the box and drilled a shot to make it 2-0 Caldwell County.

Hopkinsville appeared to gain some momentum of their own at the 23:00 mark, when Abby Moss took a shot from just outside the box and got it over the outstretched arms of Caldwell County goalie Karsyn Parker to cut the lead to 2-1. However, from that point on, it was almost all Caldwell County.

Kaylee McEnaney had another breakaway down the right hand side at the 38:00 mark to send Caldwell County to the half with a 3-1 lead.

In the second half, Caldwell County clamped the defense down tight on Hopkinsville, and allowed them virtually no scoring opportunities.

Laken White and Kendall Boyd combined to score goals at the 51:00, the 54:30, and 68:30 marks to blow the lead out to 6-1. Boyd finished the night with the hat trick to lead the way for the Lady Tigers from Princeton.

Caldwell County improves to 2-0 on the season, and will return to action at home Monday in a district matchup against Hopkins Central. Hoptown falls to 1-1 on the season, and will get back to action Monday at home against Lyon County.
